Reduce stress, cultivate compassion and clarity, savor the good times with our kids - this is how mindfulness practice can make parenting a little easier. Join us for this special event where parents of children with special needs and abilities will come together to share our unique joys and challenges. In this workshop we will explore formal and informal mindfulness practice and share a little about the science of mindfulness. Comfortable clothes are recommended. Please bring a bag lunch and snacks for the day along with a water bottle. Coffee and tea will be available.

Kay Davidson, PhD is a retired clinical psychologist and long time mindfulness coach, mentor, and teacher. Kay completed the 2 year Meditation Teacher Training led by Tara Brach and the Insight Meditation Community of Washington DC in 2013 and now offers many classes, practice groups, workshops and retreats in the RVA area. Currently, she is co-facilitating the Chrysalis Institute Mindfulness Teacher Training program along with her husband Philip. She also serves on the Chrysalis Institute Faculty and is a past board member.
Sherry Klauer is the mother of a child with special needs. She is a qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher through the UCSD School of Medicine. She holds certifications in yoga (200RYT), personal training, run coaching and fitness nutrition. Sherry left the corporate world to care for her three children in 2002, and made a career shift to mind/body wellness after her daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2009. She is the Program Director at Chrysalis Institute, and privately coaches clients through her consulting business WellPower LLC. Sherry teaches yoga and meditation in various studios in the RVA area.
