More joy. More patience. More presence. As parents, it seems like there's no time to pause and savor the moment. We feel pulled in so many directions: family, work, friends, going to the gym...the list goes on and on! Mindfulness practices (meditation) can help parents find calm and clarity amidst the chaos, helping us raise our families with intention and compassion in this fast-paced, digital age. Mindfulness not only helps manage the ups and downs of parenting and reduces stress, but it allows us to notice and relish the magical moments we have with our families that we want to remember.
In partnership with the Cameron K. Gallagher (CKG) Foundation, Chrysalis Institute has created this one-day conference. Certified mindfulness practitioners will facilitate 2 keynotes, 15+ workshops, and all-day practice opportunities. Substantive, evidence-based tools can be implemented immediately.
Morning keynote speakers are Chris Reina, Ph.D., VCU School of Business, and Sherry Klauer, Mindfulness Teacher and Parent. Chris and Sherry will open the day by defining mindfulness, sharing a bit about the neuroscience behind why and how it works, and exploring how mindfulness can strengthen our day-to-day roles as parents using concrete life examples. Afternoon keynote speakers are David and Grace Gallagher, founders of CKG Foundation. They will share their story of resilience after suddenly losing their daughter Cameron, and the role that mindfulness played in their journey.
No experience with meditation or mindfulness is necessary. All parents are welcome. Participants can be parents, grandparents, educators, or other role models in a child's life.
