Integral Yoga was founded by Swami Satchidananda, who brought it to this country in the 1960’s. He stressed religious and spiritual harmony among all people, and his motto was, “Truth is One, Paths are Many.” Integral Hatha Yoga is a comprehensive and gentle practice that enhances personal well-being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Classes incorporate postures (asanas), deep relaxation, breathing exercises, chanting, and meditation. The postures are designed to help the practitioner gain flexibility, strength, poise, and focus. Ultimately, the practice of Hatha Yoga allows one to achieve a balance between effort and surrender that leads to deep physical and mental stillness.
The goal of Integral Hatha Yoga is to experience an easeful body, a peaceful mind, and a useful life. Benefits of this practice include improved circulation to multiple organ systems, improved digestion, increased flexibility, improved immune function, enhanced cardiovascular health, and an enhanced sense of well being.
Join Integral Hatha Yoga teacher Martha Tyler for a series of four classes. No previous yoga experience is necessary. You many attend the series or come to individual classes.
